"Nachwelt" depicts the reality of young people in East Germany who return to the countryside to
work in or take over agricultural enterprises.
The images focus on everyday life, characterized by physical labor, rural living, and youthfulness. "Nachwelt" is another word for "next generation"—the generation of a society expected to take
over businesses. Being a farmer is a dying profession.
Many young people leave after school and choose not to return. Reasons include better career opportunities, social life in cities, lack of cultural activities, and poor infrastructure.
In East Germany, it is particularly challenging to maintain smaller agricultural enterprises, as large enterprises, which inherited the LPGs of the GDR, dominate.

I portrayed and accompanied five young farmers in their daily lives.
